What to include
Three things make a first message useful
None of this is required to get in touch. It just saves a round of questions.
The name
Exactly as somebody else would type it, including any spelling people get wrong. Names that sit close to a better known one behave differently in search, and it changes what is possible.
What comes up
What you would rather was not there, and roughly when it appeared. Something recent and something years old are different problems with different answers.
What has been tried
Whether anyone has already attempted to deal with it, and what happened. Knowing what failed saves repeating it, and sometimes explains why a result hardened.
Before you write
It helps to know what you are looking at. Search your own name in a private browser window and note what appears, and whether it is accurate, outdated, or simply somebody else with your name.
A first message is a starting point rather than an assessment. What is realistic in a given situation takes a proper look at the results themselves, and I would rather say that than guess from a paragraph.
If you are not sure what you need yet, the work is set out in full on the work page, and how I came to do it is on the about page.
